Terzo Giorno

The final day of freedom. Which just happens to be the celebration of the Italian Republic! Winning, yet again.

Our plan was to watch a parade and go to Saint Peter's Square for a taping of The Today Show, but we quickly found we were on the wrong side of the street. Our primary viewing experience was limited to some bedazzled horses and, as Kristen would say, "those good looking men in uniform."

Wait, I lied. There were some awesome F-16 jets that flew above the capitol building that projected smoke in the national colors. My room mate had perfect timing and caught the smoke while it was still in streaks. By the time I had fumbled in my bag for my camera it has dissipated a bit, but it still looked cool.

Sidenote: If you went to Google's home page yesterday you probably saw a cartoon image of the jets and the smoke. I saw it in person. Swag.

Any way, went to Saint Peter's Square after lunch for The Today Show. Al Roker and Matt Lauer broadcasted live from the square to interview the Pope and cover the holiday celebrations. One of Elizabeth's former students is a producer at The Today Show and invited us to meet the staff. I shook hands with Al Roker. It was epic.

We were pretty exhausted after the show, so a lot of us went back to campus. It gave me a lot of time to recuperate and reflect on the last three days. They're honestly going by entirely too fast and it feels like a big, colorful, historical, photographic, artistic, delicious blur...if that makes the slightest bit of sense.

More photos to be added later today!
